Google也有像Yahoo那樣子的人的勞力檢查核對

或許大家都聽說,或何在看見過:Yahoo是人的勞力檢查核對網站,Google是機查、半自動查。今日我在網上瞎逛,發覺SlightlyShady亮出一個私人感覺:Google的人查過我的站。其依據是:他發覺了能證實此的過訪日記。

 

他基於顯露Google搜索的referer、過訪者的IP地址是Google所領有的地址、過訪者的動作比Googlebot慢等事情的真實情況(至少他覺得是事情的真實情況),就作出了一個論斷:過訪者不是Googlebot,也就是說,不是機械而是人過訪的。他通過這樣一番推理,得出了這樣一個論斷。但他這個推理對錯誤呢?當然了,推理錯誤、論斷對的現象,有時候仍然存在的。但他這個,至少讓我說的話,我還真難說對錯誤。

然而這件事讓我想起一件老事:Google承認過他們有10000人的隊伍,就乾人的勞力檢查核對網站的事物。我是從Seattle Conference on Scalability曉得這件事的。這是個在2007/6/23舉辦的會展,會上,Google的Marissa Mayer做了如下所述發言:

they have 10,000 human evaluators who are always manually checking the relevance of various results.

當然了,該會距今已有1年以上的時間了,或許,這一年多的時間裡,Google已消除了這支隊伍,已無一人的職工投身人的勞力檢查核對?我說不准。沒見到有關的官方報導,也沒聽說過有關的非官方的傳說。當然了,我沒見過、沒聽說過的,不等就不存在。

話收不住了,繼續說吧。還有篇英文的文章,內部實質意義也是關於Google的檢查核對方面的,Technology Review對Google的Director of Research,Peter Norvig的一個過訪。過訪中,受訪者有這麼的應答:

We test it in lots of ways. At the grossest level, we track what usersare clicking on. If they click on the number-one result, and thenthey’re done, that probably means they got what they wanted. If they’rescrolling down, page after page, and reformulating the query, then weknow the results aren’t what they wanted. Another way we do it is torandomly select specific queries and hire people to say how good ourresults are. These are just contractors that we hire who give theirjudgment. We train them on how to identify spamand other bad sites, and then we record their judgments and trackagainst that. It’s more of a gold standard because it’s someone givinga real opinion, but of course, since there’s a human in the loop, wecan’t afford to do as much of it. We also invite people into the labs,or sometimes we go into homes and observe them as they do searches. Itprovides insight into what people are having difficulty with.

這個過訪是啥子時刻尋訪的,我沒查到。說白了,我根本就沒查,想睡了。因為這個,英語也不可以給大家移譯了,這已不是首次了,真的是對不起。
